Kari Harris is a co-chair and founder of the SPNHC Emerging Professionals Committee. She is a club coordinator, collections manager, and biology instructor at Arkansas State University. Kari's background is in 7-12 biology education, herbarium digitization, and student participation. She has been a member of SPNHC since the Rapid City, SD meeting in 2013. Kari also manages the Natural History Collections Club Network (NHCCN) which represents several clubs across the United States. These clubs give students a voice in collections and allow them to experience and participate in collections education, outreach, and research at their university. This model is especially important to universities that do not have a traditional collections management program.

The SPNHC Emerging Professionals Committee provides experiences for Emerging Professionals in the Society and seeks to help the society by drawing interest and ideas from Emerging Professionals. Each year, the committee hosts a part professional development/ part socialization workshop at SPNHC. For more information about the SPNHC EPG, see the EPG wiki page.
