Chapter 9: Designing, Constructing, and Renovating Storage Facilities

Walt Crimm Associates, Philadephia, PA

There are many opportunities in the design process to mitigate risk and provide a better preservation environment for collections. Understanding and communicating each opportunity will enable the staff to be better advocates in this process. This chapter integrates the work of other chapters in a summary form and applies them directly to the building as one part of the preventative conservation approach to collection care.
