Collection Storage: Project Development
Chapter 7: Building Project Development
Walt Crimm Associates, Philadephia, PA
This chapter incorporates how the museum integrates the preventative conservation approach described in every chapter of this book into the process of design. Using the Functional Program as a foundation, the design team begins to lead the museum through development of documents that defines the building to be completed by the contractor or construction manager. The museum stakeholders play a critical role in communicating and expanding upon the needs identified in the program and in responding to the design as it develops to ensure the future space meets operational
and preservation goals. Through multiple design phases, stakeholders can understand their role in this process and the importance of remaining engaged from kickoff to final walk through.
